Flora and Fauna
The Top of the Island region is a "must visit" for those seeking close encounters with nature. Mammals large and small, on land and in the water, travel the mountains, valleys, rivers and oceans of the area.
In the air, through the forests and on the coastline birds of all sorts, both rare and common, congregate throughout the year, peaking during the spring and fall migration periods.
A myriad of plantlife, some quite rare, inhabits the forests, mountains, beaches and bogs, and offers observers a virtual parade of color from early spring to late autumn. And in the winter, things slow down and wildlife is even more at ease and observable than during the non-snow seasons.
We invite you to the table to enjoy the visual feast that nature serves up annually at the Top of the Island.
